Lions' home opener tonight

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions are seven games into the 2022 baseball season but have yet to play at home. That home-field advantage deficit is scheduled to end today. The Lions will host Madison County today at 5:55 p.m.

Lady Lions aim to build on late season momentum

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lions improved throughout the 2021-22 basketball season and really turned a corner late in the year. Head Coach Chad Bridges said he hopes his program can build on that for next season.

Soccer Cubs off to hot start

The Franklin County Middle School Cubs soccer team started the season with a 4-0 record. The team's latest win came Feb. 24, with a 1-0 victory over Rabun County. Benji Molina-Gonzalez scored in the final minute in a "very tough, physical game," Coach John Marc Cooling said.

Strong second: Lions finish as 8AAA runners-up

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions fell just short of a region championship Saturday despite the loss of two key starters. Franklin fell 61-56 in overtime to the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes in the Lions’ Den Saturday in the Region 8AAA championship game.

Lady Lions end season in first round

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   A last-second three to tie the game did not fall for the Franklin County Lady Lions Tuesday night as their season ended in Chatsworth in the first round of the state playoffs. The Lady Lions fell 46-43 to Murray County.

Soccer Lions improve to 3-3-1

The Franklin County Lions soccer team defeated Banks County 6-0 Tuesday to improve to 3-3-1 on the season. Jonathan Duncan had three goals for Franklin, with Max Bridges adding two goals and Isaac David one goal.

Strong showing: Mat Lions 10th at state with three medalists

Hart games bring intense night on court

Win earns Lady Lions state berth

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lions won their way into the Region 8AAA semifinals and the state tournament Monday with a 57-40 win over Monroe Area. Franklin’s win came in the first round of the region tournament, held at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville.

Lions split to open season

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions baseball team began its season Tuesday with an unexpected doubleheader at Prince Avenue Christian School in Atlanta. The two teams were set to play one game, with a second game Thursday in Carnesville.
