Track teams bring home medals from state meet

Golf teams post top 10 finishes at state tournaments

Franklin County’s High School golf teams finished in the top 10 at State Championship Tournaments Monday and Tuesday in the Augusta area. The Lady Lions finished ninth in their tournament, held at  Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson. Franklin’s girls posted a score of 625 over the 36-hole event.

Semifinal berth for Lions comes down to deciding third game at Pierce County

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Note: This is an updated version of the story which ran in this week's paper. The Franklin County Lions’ quest for a state baseball championship ended Wednesday with a 7-6 loss in the third and final game of a quarterfinal series against Pierce County in Blackshear.

State meet begins today

Lions to host White Co. for spring football game

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Lions fans will get their first look at the 2022 Franklin County football team Friday at 7 p.m. in Ed Bryant Stadium. The Lions will host White County in a spring football game that will end two weeks of spring practice for Franklin County.

Golf teams to take on state

From staff reports   The Franklin County High School golf teams will compete in the state championship golf tournament beginning Monday. The state tournament will consist of two rounds, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. The boys' state tournament will be held at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans.

Lions to go on road in state quarterfinals

A matchup worthy of the state championship series will instead determine one of the spots in the Class AAA baseball semifinals. The Franklin County Lions will travel four-and-a-half hours to Blackshear Tuesday to face the Pierce County Bears in the state quarterfinals.

Over the 8AAA hurdle

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Twenty-three Franklin County athletes will compete Saturday in the state sectional meet at East Jackson High School in Commerce. Franklin and fellow schools from 8AAA will be joined by teams from regions 1AAA, 3AAA and 4AAA in the sectionals.

Bell part of new start for Fastpitch

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The coaching staff for Franklin Fastpitch put players through drills during tryouts Wednesday as a crew worked to put up a new fence around the softball field. The fence will encircle a revamped softball facility that has two brand new dugouts.

FCHS golf teams advance to state tournament

From staff reports   The Franklin County High School golf teams will compete in the state championship golf tournament May 16-17 in the Augusta area. Both the boys' and girls' teams advanced after competing in the Area 4AAA tournaments April 27 in Lafayette.
