New season on new field just one day away

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   It will be a young group of Franklin County Lions that run out onto the new turf field, under the brighter lights and large videoboard at Ed Bryant Stadium Friday night in Carnesville. “We're going to be young,” second-year Head Coach Parker Martin said.

Franklin Fastpitch to host Commerce, Madison Saturday

The Franklin County Lady Lions will host Madison County and Commerce Saturday for a softball doubleheader in Carnesville. Franklin will face Madison County at 10 a.m. and Commerce at 2 p.m. Madison and Commerce will play each other at noon. The Lady Lions are off to a 3-3 start this season.
Renovations to Ed Bryant Stadium began the day after graduation in May, with the removal of the grass playing surface. Workers then graded several inches of dirt from the field and spread loads of gravel before the playing surface was installed in pieces.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County will dedicate a new field at Ed Bryant Stadium before Friday night’s football season opener. “We couldn’t have gotten a better turf field than we’ve gotten,” Athletic Director Jason Oliver said. “It’s something we should be proud of.
The 1992 Franklin County Lions football team made the state quarterfinals and was the most successful in school history. The close-knit team was led by 16 seniors that included (front, from left) Elvin Brown, Eric Barnes, Jay Baskins, Robert Duncan, Erick Parson, (back) James McGee, Tarus Winters and Bob Whitworth.

One more set: Volleyball squad seeks state playoff berth

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lions will defend their region championship in a different looking 8AAA. Hebron Christian Academy joins Franklin, Hart County, Stephens County, Monroe Area and Oconee County in the region this year.

CARNESVILLE – Tickets for Franklin County High School and Franklin County Middle School athletic events will be going digital this year. Athletic Director Jason Oliver announced recently that tickets will be available through GoFan.
