From staff reports   Five members of the Franklin County Lady Lion soccer team received All-Region 8AAA honors for the 2022 season. Goalkeeper Journey Roberts and forward Jordis Haselden were each named to the All-Region first-team.

From staff reports   Franklin County High School and Lion tennis player Will Wester have been honored as Positive Athlete winners for Northeast Georgia. Wester was named Positive Athlete winner for tennis, while FCHS was named Northeast Georgia’s Most Positive School.
The Region 8AAA champion Lions will host the Colts, the No. 4 team from 6AAA, for a doubleheader beginning Friday at 5 p.m.

Back-to-back: Lions clinch second consecutive 8AAA title

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions are Region 8AAA baseball champions for the second year in a row. Franklin wrapped up the championship Tuesday with a 6-0 victory on Senior Night over East Jackson, combined with an Oconee County loss to Hart County.
The boys’ 4x800 team of Ethan Marchman, Brayden White, Ben Hardman and Robbie Woods won first place.

Region track meet begins Monday

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County High School track teams will begin competition Monday in the Region 8AAA meet at East Jackson High School in Commerce. Competition will begin Monday at 10 a.m. with field events, followed by running prelims around 2 p.m.

FCMS track posts school records at state meet

The Franklin County Cubs’ track and field team finished a stellar season in fine fashion at the Georgia Middle School State Championships. Sixteen members of the FCMS track and field teams qualified for the state championship meet.

Taking control: Franklin takes one-game lead into Friday doubleheader with Oconee

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions took control of the Region 8AAA baseball championship race Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Oconee County in Watkinsville. The win put the Lions ahead in the 8AAA standings by one game.

Golf teams prep for area

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County’s 2022 high school golf season will conclude with a matches Monday in Hartwell and April 20 at Highland Walk. The Lions and Lady Lions are preparing for the area tournament April 26 at LaFayette Golf Club in LaFayette.
