Securing second: FCHS clinches state berth, No. 2 seed in 8AAA tourney

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions have secured a spot in the state playoffs by clinching second-place in Region 8AAA. Franklin notched region wins over Oconee County Friday and East Jackson Tuesday to clinch second place in the region with one game left on the schedule.

Lady Lions get signature win over No. 6 East Jackson

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lions have come close to beating one of the top three teams in Region 8AAA on several occasions this season. On Tuesday night in Carnesville, the Franklin girls broke through with a 55-47 overtime win over East Jackson, the No.

7th grade Cubs win region championship

From staff reports   Franklin County Middle School’s boys basketball teams claimed a NEGIAA region championship and a runner-up trophy Saturday in Elberton. The seventh grade Cubs defeated Hart County 53-51 in overtime to claim the region championship.

Lions' win sets up showdown with Oconee for second place

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   A first-round bye in the Region 8AAA tournament is within reach of the Franklin County Lions with just three regular season games remaining. After Tuesday’s 64-46 win over Monroe Area in Carnesville, the Lions are tied for second place in the region standings.

Lady Lions to end regular season with three top teams

Top 10 teams challenged by Lady Lions
