Lions' tennis qualifies for state; girls fall just short in playoff bid

The Franklin County Lions’ tennis team is headed to the state playoffs. The Region 8AAA tennis tournament began Tuesday at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville. Franklin defeated Monroe Area in the first round of the tournament to qualify for the state playoffs.

8AAA on the line

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Weather hampered some of the Franklin County baseball team’s plans for spring break. What was originally scheduled as a very busy week with four consecutive games during an off-week in Region 8AAA was whittled down to at most three games by rain on Tuesday.

Rutledge receives All-State honors

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County senior Keylan Rutledge was named honorable mention All-State for Class AAA by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Rutledge was a standout for the Franklin County Lions basketball team that finished as Region 8AAA runners-up in 2021-22.

'Tough and humbling': Franklin falls to Hart in epic OT game

Streaking Lions ‘facing a gauntlet’ on schedule

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Region 8AAA baseball schedule has brought out the best in the Franklin County Lions. The defending region champions have swept their first two series against 8AAA opponents and opened a three-game series with rival Hart County with an 11-1 win on Monday.

Cubs win back-to-back region titles

From staff reports   The Franklin County Middle School baseball Cubs blew out Hart County Monday to clinch its second consecutive NEGIAA region championship. The Cubs defeated Hart 16-3 in Hartwell in the third and deciding game to win the title.

Versatile Goode signs to play football for Reinhardt
