Lions near finish of region's first half

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The first half of the Region 8AAA schedule will be complete on Tuesday. By then, the Franklin County Lions will know exactly where they stand with five 8AAA contests to go before the region tournament in mid-February.

Wrestlers make Sweet 16 in duals

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County’s wrestling team didn’t make the finals of the state duals tournament, but the Lions did advance to the state’s Sweet 16. Franklin competed Saturday in the Class AAA Team Dual Wrestling Prelims at Rockmart High School.

Middle school tournament delayed by weather

The annual NEGIAA middle school basketball tournament was delayed this week by winter weather but was scheduled to start back up next week in Elberton.

Franklin County Little League sign ups under way

Franklin County Little League is now registering players for the 2022 season for T-ball, softball and baseball. Online registration is open at www.clubs.bluesombrero.com/franklincountyllga. The first of two in-person registrations will be held Jan. 22 from 10 a.m.

Starting out right: Lions beat Indians in Toccoa to open Region 8AAA schedule

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Region 8AAA basketball schedule began Friday night. Franklin County Coach Jason Shaver said there are two kinds after those first games: those that are 1-0 and those that are 0-1. His Lions are 1-0 after defeating Stephens County on the road.
