Lady Lions fall 3-1 in Region 8AAA volleyball tourney

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lions volleyball team finished their season Thursday with a loss in the Region 8AAA tournament. Franklin lost three sets to one to Stephens County in an entertaining, competitive match in Toccoa.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher The Franklin County Lady Lions were eliminated from the Class AAA state softball tournament Wednesday with back-to-back losses to two-time defending state champion Ringgold in Carnesville. Ringgold won the first game 3-1 and the second 8-5.

Lady Lions to play for state berth

The Franklin County Lady Lions will travel to Toccoa today to face Stephens County at 5:30 p.m. in the first round of the Region 8AAA volleyball tournament. The winner of the best-of-five-sets match will earn a berth in the state playoffs.

Lions fall on road to Indians in region contest

'Running for Woody'

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   “Running for Woody” was written on every Franklin County cross country bib Thursday in Hartwell. The motto was a tribute to Bill “Woody” Woods, an assistant coach and mentor to Franklin County runners who died Sept. 24.
