Hosting 8AAA

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   For the second year in a row, the Franklin Fastpitch will host the Region 8AAA championship. The Lady Lions clinched the No. 1 seed in the region tournament with an 8-5 win over Oconee County Friday in Watkinsville.

Lions host No. 9 Hart in Region 8AAA opener

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The fight for the state playoffs begin Friday night for the Franklin County Lions against an archrival and one of the best teams in the state. The Lions will host the Hart County Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. in Ed Bryant Stadium in the Region 8AAA opener for both squads.

Franklin athletics mourns loss of Coach Woods

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County cross country and track programs and the entire athletics program is mourning the death of Coach Bill “Woody” Woods. Woods, an assistant cross country and track coach, died Friday.

Homecoming, home win

Win clinches playoff berth for Cubs

The Franklin County Middle School Cubs have earned a berth in the region playoffs. FCMS earned a playoff berth with a 26-7 defeat of Habersham County in Mount Airy Sept. 15.

Rain forces Lady Lions to reshuffle schedule

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin Fastpitch was on quite a roll going into last week. The team had won six games in a row, by an average score of 8-2. But then the rains came. Showers washed out a game with Banks County on Sept. 15 and Stephens County on Sept. 16.

Lady Lions stake claim as region title favorites

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin Fastpitch has picked up four wins in the past week and shown that it is the clear championship favorite in Region 8AAA. Three of the Lady Lions’ four wins were over region opponents, improving the team’s 8AAA record to 6-0.

600-plus run at Pridelands Invitational
