Lions to play in jamboree Saturday in Hartwell

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions will have the chance to compete against another team Saturday in Hartwell. The Lions will play Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Lake Hartwell Gridiron Classic at Herndon Stadium in Hartwell.

Eight seniors lead Lady Lions into 2021 season

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin Fastpitch softball program is one of the best in the state. And this year, the Lady Lions have experience at every position, with eight seniors and one junior set to start in the field.

Wrestlers unveil new mat

The Franklin County Wrestling Program unveiled a new light weight Resilite mat recently. The mat’s  weight makes it easier to move. It will be used for varsity matches. It is the first mat purchased since the program first started. Old mats will be used for practices.

About 250 bicycle racers are expected to come to Franklin County Sunday for a stop on the Tour of North Georgia. Franklin County High School will serve as a staging area and starting place for a road race stage that will begin Sunday morning.

Lions to play for state title

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – The greatest season in Franklin County baseball history will continue for one more weekend and last as long as the Georgia High School Association allows.
The Franklin County Lions baseball team will play Saturday in the semifinals of the state Class AAA baseball playoffs against Appling County. The Lions will host a doubleheader, with the first game beginning at 5 p.m.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County Lion senior J.D. Ginn pointed out that until Monday the high school baseball program had never hosted an Elite Eight state playoff series. Come Saturday, there’ll be another first: a Final Four series on the FCHS field in Carnesville.

Lions win 8AAA baseball title, host playoff series today

By Shane Scoggins Publisher No one knew exactly what to expect out of the Franklin County Lions at the beginning of baseball season. The team didn’t make the playoffs in 2019, and the 2020 season was cut short  by the coronavirus pandemic.
