Senior Carson Cheek and the Franklin County Lions will kick off the 2026 football season Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium against Chestatee.

By Shane ScogginsPublisher Franklin County native Blake Wehunt has been promoted to the Worcester Red Sox, the AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.AAA is the highest Minor League classification and is one step away from Major League Baseball.

Members of the team are Karson Adams, Dank Crane, Rhett Davison, Gavin Harris, Hayden Harvey, C.J. McLendon, Gavin McGuire, Will Oliver, Teller Cabe, Zayden Stevenson, Grayson Stovall and Wyatt Veal. Franklin Little League team wins district

The Franklin County Little League Little League All Start team won the District 7 championship last week. The team defeated Elbert County in the district championship game. Franklin will play in the state tournament beginning July 18 at Oconee County Little League in Watkinsville.
