Stone shoots past school shot record

By Shane ScogginsPublisher Candler Stone is the defending Class AA champion in shot put.And now, he holds Franklin County High School’s record in the event.Stone threw 59’6 3/4” at a home meet Thursday to break a record set in 1999 by Clint Tanner, who is Stone’s coach at FCHS.

FCHS Soccer sweeps Hart in key 8AA games

By Shane ScogginsPublisher The Franklin County Middle School Lady Cubs track team ran, threw and jumped away with the NEGIAA region championship Tuesday in Danielsville.The Lady Cubs amassed 223 points to win the region title over second-place Madison County, which had 125 points.

By Shane ScogginsPublisher Eli Cooling was honored Monday for breaking the school’s career scoring record.Cooling scored his 66th and 67th career goals last week in a match at Towns County to break a 65-goal tie with Jonathan Duncan for the record.

Region arrives

By Shane ScogginsPublisher Coach Ryan Phillips made the 2026 baseball schedule for the Franklin County Lion with one portion of the season in mind.That portion – the Region 8AA schedule – begins Monday when the Lions host Prince Avenue Christian School at 5:55 p.m. at FCHS.
