CARNESVILLE – The Tour of North Georgia brought around 200 bicycle racers to Franklin County High School Sunday for competition in a USA Cycling sanctioned race.

Bike tour will finish in Frankin County this weekend

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   CARNESVILLE — The Tour of North Georgia bike race will return to Franklin County High School this weekend. The USA Cycling sanctioned race plans to bring 250-300 cyclists to the school Sunday for its third day and fourth stage of racing in area.

Anglers of the Year: Kellum, Thompson earn spot in nationals, take 2nd at state

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Two Franklin County fishing team members were officially awarded Angler of the Year honors this past weekend, earned a spot in the national tournament and finished second in the state championship on Lake Hartwell.

Lions earn All-Region 8AAA baseball honors

Six Franklin County Lion baseball players were named to the All-Region 8AAA team for the 2022 season, with a seventh named Honorable Mention. The Lions won their second consecutive Region 8AAA championship this past season and had only one loss in region play.

Red wins state shot title

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Keylan Rutledge dominated the first five attempts in the shot put competition at AAA State Championships Thursday in Carrollton. But it still took one last scream-aided throw to win the state championship.
