8AAA begins

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Region 8AAA schedule begins today for Franklin Fastpitch. The Lady Lions will travel to Monroe for a 5:30 p.m. game against the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes. Monroe struggled to start the year by losing its first five games.

Franklin teams run in North Georgia meet

Franklin County’s cross country teams ran Saturday in the North Georgia Championships, held at Lamar Murphy Park in Jefferson. The Franklin County High School boys’ team placed ninth out of 21 teams in the varsity division.

Undefeated Cubs to host rival Hart today

The Franklin County Middle School Cubs football team has faced two of its biggest rivals thus far this season and has posted a 2-0 record. A third rival will travel to Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium today, as FCMS will host Hart County at 5:30 p.m.

Indians aim for 3-0 start vs. Lions

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County’s early-season schedule won’t get any easier with a trip Friday to Dahlonega to face the Lumpkin County Indians. Lumpkin has already matched its win total from last season and gotten off to its best start in football in 11 years.

Field for the future: Young Lions team christens new field

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The future arrived in Ed Bryant Stadium Friday night. The Franklin County Lions played on a new, state-of-art turf field overseen by a large video board for the very first time. And many of the players on the team that played on that field were new as well.

Lady Lions volleyball picks up win over Commerce

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lions volleyball team has gotten off to a slow start this season. The team picked up its second win of the season Tuesday to improve its record to 3-4.

Lady Cubs volleyball hosts Rabun

The Franklin County Middle School volleyball teams played Rabun County Monday in Carnesville. The FCMS A team defeated Rabun 2-0, with 25-12 scores in both sets. Avery Burton led the team with 10 aces and four kills.
