By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   When she was little, Journey Roberts almost quit softball. Now, she’s committed to play on the college level for one of the sport’s elite teams. Roberts signed with the University of North Georgia during a ceremony Nov. 9.

From staff reports   The Franklin Fastpitch softball team placed eight members on the All-Region 8AAA team, including the player and pitcher of the year, following the 2022 season. Senior Journey Roberts was named Player of the Year for 8AAA.

From staff reports   Franklin County High School took both of its cross country teams to the State Cross Country Championships for the first time in many years Saturday. The state meet was held at Carrollton High School in Carrollton.

The Ty Cobb Museum in Royston will sponsor a Major League Baseball Players Alumni Legends for Youth Clinic Nov. 12 in Franklin Springs. The free clinic will be conducted by former Major League Baseball players, who will teach fundamentals of baseball. The clinic will run Nov. 12 from 9 a.m.

A member of the Franklin County Lady Lions softball team will play in the first softball games ever at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. Senior Journey Roberts has been chosen for the Georgia Dugout Club’s 2022 Region 7 and 8 All-State Team.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County’s cross country teams will compete Saturday in the State Cross Country Meet in Carrollton. The boys’ team will run at 9:30 a.m., with the girls to follow at 10:15 a.m. Each team qualified for state by finishing in the top four in region competition.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Another strong season for Franklin Fastpitch ended Friday in the state super regional at Wesleyan High School in Norcross. The Franklin County Lady Lions went 1-2 in the state tournament and were eliminated in the super regional semifinals.
