Wrestlers win at Winder Duals

The Franklin County High School wrestling team placed first over the weekend at the Winder Barrow Duals. The Lions wrestled Wednesday in the East Metro Tournament at Monroe Area and will compete at the Hook'em Horns tournament at Lambert High School next week. The team will then be off until Jan.

Strickland wins Carson Award

Franklin County High School senior J.T. Strickland was presented the 2022 Randy Carson Award during the FCHS football team’s year-end banquet. The award has been presented since 1970 in memory of Carson. The award is given each year to a player who displays integrity and character.

Lions travel to Myrtle Beach for Christmas tournament

Lady Lions to play in Hart tournament

Four Lions honored by 8AAA

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Four Franklin County Lion football players have been named All-Region 8AAA. Seniors Jeloni Johnson, Jonathan Duncan, Dee Oliver and Rylan Tamplin were all honored by vote of the region’s coaches. Johnson and Duncan each made the All-Region second team.

Franklin girls improve going into break

'In progress'

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Coach Jason Shaver said Tuesday that his 2022-23 Franklin County Lions basketball team is “a work in progress.” The five seniors who graduated from last year’s team took plenty of experience and most of the team’s size with them.
Former Franklin County Lion Keylan “Red” Rutledge received his state shot put championship ring in a ceremony Thursday in the Lion’s Den. Rutledge won the Class AAA state shot put title in May with a throw of 53’4” on his last attempt. The throw was 2’5” farther than Rutledge had ever thrown. Rutledge, who was also a standout football and basketball player for the Lions, is now a starting offensive lineman for Middle Tennessee State University, where he was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.

From staff reports   Former Franklin County High School multi-sport star Keylan “Red” Rutledge has been named to the Conference USA All-Freshman football team. Rutledge is a student-athlete at Middle Tennessee State University, where he received a football scholarship.
