The Franklin County Middle School seventh grade Cubs won the NEGIAA region championship with a victory Saturday in the title game against Stephens County. Members of the team are Sam Shaver, Isaiah Harris, Elliot Harbin, Patrez Gary, Eli Moore, Knox Whitworth, KeWontae Riley, Drake Nix, Kamryn Kellar, Kamarrian Barnes, Will Swinney, Chase Spears and Laithen Barnes. The team is coached by A.J. Ricci with assistants Keez Roebuck and Dawson Dean.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions wrestling team will compete Saturday in Toccoa for a Class AAA State Duals Championship. The Lions are one of eight teams to advance to the state duals tournament, to be held at Stephens County High School beginning Saturday at 10 a.m.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Basketball season will hit high gear Tuesday with the opening of play in the Region 8AAA schedule. Both the Franklin County Lions and Lady Lions will look to earn good seedings in the region standings going into the 8AAA tournament, scheduled to begin Feb. 14.

Lady Lions beat Daniel in tournament

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lions will wrap up play in the 2022 McDonald’s Shootout today at Hart County High School. Franklin will play in either the third place game at 4 p.m. or the championship game at 7 p.m.

Wrestling teams win at East Metro tournaments

The Franklin County Lion wrestling varsity and junior varsity teams have been active over Christmas break. Both teams competed in the East Metro tournament at Monroe Area Dec. 21. At the varsity level, Brady Simms  won the tournament championship at 175 pounds.
