Franklin native Wehunt drafted by Red Sox

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Former Franklin County Baseball Lion Blake Wehunt has been drafted by the Boston Red Sox. Wehunt was chosen Monday in the ninth round of the Major League Baseball draft. “It’s been my goal since I was a kid,” Wehunt said.

Little League All-Stars win Franklin’s third banner of 2023

Franklin County Little League won its third District 7 championship Saturday in Toccoa. The Franklin Little League team (ages 10-11) defeated Hart County Saturday for the District 7 All-Star baseball championship at Doyle Street Park in Toccoa.

Pair of Franklin All-Star teams win district titles

Two Franklin County Little League All-Star teams are headed to state competition after winning District 7 titles this week. Franklin’s 8-10 year old and 9-11 year old teams each won district championships. The 9-11 year old team wrapped up its title victory Monday in Lavonia.

Three Franklin County Lion baseball players played Thursday in Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ 2023 Georgia/South Carolina Classic at Emmanuel College’s Tommy Carey Baseball Field.

From staff reports   Will Wester will continue his competitive fishing career after signing with the Emmanuel College Bass Fishing Team. “Emmanuel College is a great local school with a lot of opportunities,” Wester said. “It was an easy decision with how close it is to home.
