8AAA slate arrives for Lady Lions

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Region 8AAA fastpitch softball schedule begins Aug. 31 for the Franklin County Lady Lions. Franklin will look to build on a successful start to the season and continue its regular-season dominance of the region.

Defending champion Cubs dominate Stephens 24-0

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Middle School Cubs picked up the 2023 football season last week where the team left off in 2022. The defending region champion Cubs defeated Stephens County 24-0 Thursday at Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium to open their season.

Franklin volleyball squad 2-2 to open schedule

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lady Lion volleyball team has picked up two victories early in its 2023 season. The team is 2-2 after its first pair of dual matches. Franklin opened the season Thursday with a split of matches with East Jackson and Commerce.

Pro Watercross makes a splash in Lavonia stop

LAVONIA – The 2023 Liqui Moly Pro Watercross National Championship Tour made its annual stop on Lake Hartwell Saturday and Sunday at the  Tugaloo State Park Megaramp in Lavonia. Watercross is similar to motocross, except on water with personal watercraft or jet skis.

Four Franklin County Lion Baseball players were named to the Class AAA All-State Team by the Georgia Dugout Club. Senior Dee Oliver and sophomore Ty Peeples were named to the All-State first team. Senior Garrett Garner and freshman Easton Gailey were named to the second team.

Pro Watercross returns to Tugaloo this weekend

Pro Watercross is coming back to Tugaloo State Park. The 2023 Liqui Moly Pro Watercross National Championship Tour will stop July 22-23 at the  Tugaloo State Park Megaramp in Lavonia. Watercross is similar to motocross, except on water with personal watercraft or jet skis.
