The Lions and Lady Lions had strong showings at their final home meet of the season Thursday at the Franklin County course on High Road. The Lions won the team title at Thursday’s race.
The state fastpitch softball playoffs begin Monday. The Franklin County Lady Lions will be in the field, either as a host of a super regional or on the road at the Region 7AAA champion’s field.
The Cubs defeated Rabun 30-0 to advance to the NEGIAA region championship game next week against either Hart County or Madison County, who will meet today in the other region semifinal.
The Coach Jan Taylor Region Tune-Up will be held today at the Franklin County cross country course on High Road.
On the field, though the Lions lost 40-14 to the rival Bulldogs, younger players played well for Franklin.
The Lady Lions will host Hebron Christian Academy for a best-of-three series, with the first two games in a doubleheader Tuesday. Games will be at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The Franklin County High School Marching Pride band will host the Pridelands Marching Contest Saturday at Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium. Fourteen bands from around the state will compete.
