By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Thirteen Franklin County track athletes will begin competition in 12 events today in the State Track Meet in Albany. The State Track and Field Championships begin today with field events at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.

Oliver leads Lion postseason honors

Senior shortsop Dee Oliver was named Region 8AAA’s Position Player of the Year in All-Region selections voted on by 8AAA coaches. It was the second time in three years Oliver has won the award. He has also been selected to play in the Georgia Senior Games June 3 at Mercer University.

Lions bow out in Elite Eight

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions ended their season Saturday in the state’s Elite Eight with back-to-back losses to defending Class AAA state champion Pike County in Zebulon. Franklin lost 3-1 and 3-0 in the doubleheader.

Lions make state baseball quarterfinals for third straight season

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lions got one step closer to a state championship Saturday with a sweep of the Adairsville Tigers in the second round of the Class AAA playoffs. The win put the Lions in the state’s Elite Eight for the third straight year.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Six Franklin County Lion and Lady Lion soccer players made All-Region 8AAA following the 2023 season. The all-region honors were determined by a vote of the coaches in 8AAA. Five Lions were selected All-Region 8AAA.

From staff reports ATLANTA – Franklin County alum and San Diego Padre Brent Honeywell Jr. picked up his first pitching victory in Major League Baseball Friday over the Atlanta Braves. Honeywell pitched two innings of scoreless relief to pick up the victory at Truist Park in Atlanta.
