Franklin County’s High School golf teams finished in the top 10 at State Championship Tournaments Monday and Tuesday in the Augusta area.
The Lady Lions finished ninth in their tournament, held at Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson.
Franklin’s girls posted a score of 625 over the 36-hole event.
Emily Minish led the Lady Lions with a 16th overall finish out of 62 competitors. Minish shot 191 for the two-day tournament.
Gracie Crunkleton also finished in a tie for 23rd with a 202.
Others playing for the Lady Lions were Ashtin Strickland, Georgia Burton and Keeli Jordan.
The boys’ golf team finished in 10th place at their tournament at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Evans.
Franklin shot a 689 in the 36-hole tournament, with Hunter Mosley leading the team with a 161.
Mosley finished tied for 26th overall out of 76 players.
Owen Carey finished in 38th with a 168.
Other members of the team playing for Franklin were Gabe Hiland, Rhett Floyd, Nathan Davitt and D.J. Seymour.
“I am proud of this group of guys,” Coach Clay Moore said.. “They worked really hard to get to state, played 36 holes of golf and represented Franklin County well. Proud is an understatement.”
