CARNESVILLE – Burning railroad ties and other kinds of waste products by industries is now banned in Franklin County. County commissioners voted 4-1 Monday to amend its zoning law for commercial-industrial uses to prohibit the burning of railroad ties and waste products.

Fake movie money debuts in Royston

ROYSTON – Investigators are looking into fake “motion picture money” that has popped up in two incidents in Royston. Royston Police Chief Donnie Bolemon said Wednesday that a restaurant and a store in town have reported people passing fake $100 bills in town.

CARNESVILLE – Franklin County government offices will begin reopening Monday but not all at once. The commissioners’ office, tax commissioner’s office and elections office will reopen Monday, a press release from Franklin County Manager Beth Thomas said.

CARNESVILLE – Voters who wish to cast ballots by absentee can now drop them off at the county election office any time. A drop box for absentee ballots has been installed at the  Franklin County Elections and Registration Office in Carnesville.
