Mylan Roebuck signs to join brother at Emmanuel

By Charlie EavensonStaff Writer It’s rare that a high school athlete will play closer to home when he moves up to the college level, but that will be the case with Franklin County High School senior Mylan Roebuck.“We live right by the Emmanuel campus,” his father, Bernard Roebuck said.

A goal to win

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Franklin County announced Tuesday that it will be a contender in the playoff race in region boys soccer with its first 8AA victory. The Lions got out to an early lead and defeated East Jackson 2-1 at Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium.

Lions look to rebound in Prince series

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lion baseball team went into Wednesday’s home game with Prince Avenue looking for a victory that will keep their hopes alive in the three-game series with the two-time Class A state champion.

Peeples walks off with state record

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – Ty Peeples took ball four for the 111th time in his three-and-a-half year high school baseball career Saturday in the bottom of the third inning in the first of two games against Sonoraville. It was a historic event.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The race for their fifth straight region championship begins Monday for the Franklin County Lions baseball team. Race, however, may not be the word. With 8AA shaping up as possibly the toughest region in the state, the championship race may be more like a fight.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   One of the best state playoff runs in school history ended last week at Butler High School in Augusta. The Franklin County Lions fell 60-44 Feb. 26 to Butler in the state’s Elite Eight.

Soccer teams to open region play at Hebron

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Region 8AA schedule will begin Friday for Franklin County High School soccer, and it will begin with a large test. The Lions and Lady Lions will travel to Dacula to face Hebron Christian Academy in the region opener for both teams.

Track teams open season with home meet, Currahee Relays

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County High School track teams kicked off the 2025 season last week with two meets. The Lions and Lady Lions hosted the Franklin County Season Opener meet Feb. 25 and then traveled to Toccoa Saturday to run in the second annual Currahee Relays.
