The Franklin County Lion baseball team defeated rival Stephens County last week to advance to the state semfinals. The team swarmed Ty Peeples (above right photo) after he scored the winning run in the first game against the Indians.
Candler Stone posted a throw of 55’6” during the state sectional meet Saturday at East Jackson High School. The throw was best in the state in Class AA this year and the third best of any classification. He will throw for a state championship Saturday, also at East Jackson. (Photos by Scoggins)

In taking the gold medal, Kamorrian Barnes tied the state’s middle school high jump record with a 6’0” jump Saturday morning at the Georgia Middle School State Championship track meet. The record has been in place since 2011. He also won the 300 meter hurdles.
