By Shane ScogginsPublisher Franklin County runners swept the first place finishes Thursday in Hartwell at Hart County’s Bulldog Classic Cross Country Meet.Megan Hightower won the girls’ race in a field of 55 runners with a time of 23:02.83.On the boys’ side, Will Gipson won with a time of 17:05.97.

By Shane ScogginsPublisher The Franklin County Lions had to wait a little longer than expected for its 2025 season opener.A lightning delay pushed back the start time for Friday’s game at Chestatee High School in Gainesville from a 7:30 p.m. kickoff to about 9 p.m.But the wait was worth it.
