Improving on top

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lion basketball team still has room to improve, Head Coach Jason Shaver said, but the team is rounding into what it can become. “I’m just enjoying seeing them get better,” Shaver said. The team’s success is evident.

Franklin girls sit atop 8AA

Brannon signs to play soccer at Toccoa Falls

By Charlie Eavenson Staff Writer   Hartley Brannon has become the second Franklin County Lady Lion soccer player from this year’s senior class to accept a scholarship from Toccoa Falls College (TFC). Brannon signed the scholarship offer Friday in the Franklin County High School media center.
The Franklin County Middle School Cub and Lady Cub basketball teams began play Saturday in the NEGIAA tournaments being hosted by Hart County. Among those in action Saturday for FCMS was seventh-grade Cub Lawson McFarlin.

Three FCMS teams still alive in region tournaments

Three Franklin County Middle School basketball teams are still in the hunt for NEGIAA region championships. The eighth grade Cubs and Lady Cubs and the seventh grade Lady Cubs all made the second round of the tournament before winter weather postponed games set for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lady Lions remain unbeaten in 8AA with 17-point win

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   There were smiles and even some dancing Tuesday night in the Lion’s Den after the Franklin County Lady Lions defeated Hart County in a key Region 8AA contest. The Lady Lions dominated the game against their archrivals for a 68-51 victory.

Injury riddled Franklin wrestlers third in area duals

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lion wrestling team came within one match of qualifying for the state duals tournament, but injuries proved a little too much to overcome. The Lions took third-place in the Area 8AA duals tournament last week at East Jackson in Commerce.

Lady Lions overcome slow start for win

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   A slow start couldn’t stop the Franklin County Lady Lions from opening the Region 8AA schedule Tuesday with a victory. The Lady Lions defeated Stephens County 48-34 in Toccoa in the region opener for both teams.
