Lavonia buys park parking lot, buildings

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   LAVONIA — The city secured use of parking for its recreation park on Bear Creek Road by agreeing to purchase the property from Woodmen of the World. After an executive session to discuss real estate, the Lavonia City Council decided to purchase the 2.

Training the next generation of firefighters

CARNESVILLE – Junior Firefighter Day was held last week at the Carnesville Fire Department. Children learned basic first aid, CPR, how to escape a house on fire and got to use the tools firefighters use in emergencies.

Royston picks Ayers as manager finalist

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   ROYSTON – Royston has found its next city manager, and she was in city hall the whole time. The Royston Council voted unanimously Monday to designate City Clerk and Chief Finance Officer Sharleen Ayers as the sole finalist for the city manager position.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – Actions by some members of the public toward county employees has been “reprehensible,” Franklin  commissioners said Monday.
Voters can vote at the elections office on June 21 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and may vote early at the same location June 13-17 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
