By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   ROYSTON — When she was 14 years old, Gail Royston started working at Wray’s Drug Store. After 60 years in the business, she retired from Royston Drug Store this month, where she worked as a pharmacy tech.

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   CARNESVILLE — Certified teachers in Franklin County can expect to see at least a $2,200 raise in the upcoming school year.

Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said the suspect and victim were in the midst of a conflict that led the suspect to go to a residence on Carolina Lane where the victim was.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   LAVONIA – A Canon man is in jail after shooting a man in Lavonia last week. Jamal Tyrese Walker, 22, of 4533 New Franklin Church Road in Canon faces a long list of charges after an incident June 8 around 8 p.m.

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   CARNESVILLE — The site for a new elementary school received state Department of Education approval, allowing closing on the purchase to be scheduled for June 30, earlier than expected.
The Franklin County Sheriff Office received a report June 8 at about 2:30 p.m. that George Allen Gray, 62, of Roach Road was missing and last seen June 4.

From staff reports   SANDY CROSS – The body of a man reported missing last week was recovered Thursday in the North Fork of the Broad River. The Franklin County Sheriff Office received a report June 8 at about 2:30 p.m. that George Allen Gray, 62, of Roach Road was missing and last seen June 4.

CARNESVILLE – Junior Firefighter Day was held last week at the Carnesville Fire Department. Children learned basic first aid, CPR, how to escape a house on fire and got to use the tools firefighters use in emergencies.
