CARNESVILLE – A new scarecrow partner at Milford & Milford Attorneys has set up a desk on the downtown Carnesville Square ahead of the city’s Festival and Fair this weekend. The city commissioned businesses to build and display scarecrows as part of the annual celebration of the coming fall.

On Monday, an official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, with Mountain Ed officials, including Franklin campus principals Dr. Sandra Conwell and Sandee Drake, spoke about the school’s mission and their gratitude for their new location.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS – A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday for the new Mountain Education Charter High School campus at Emmanuel College. Mountain Ed is an evening, self-paced, public high school that grants regular Georgia high school diplomas. The school has 18 sites throughout North Georgia.
Attendees were able to take a trip back to a groovy time by participating in activities, dressing in their 60s best and listening to classic songs from the era.

Groovin’ in Lavonia

LAVONIA – The Lavonia Downtown Development Authority hosted its second annual Hippie Fest Saturday in downtown Lavonia. Visitors got the chance to take a trip back in time to the days of peace, love and bell bottoms.  A DJ played favorite tunes from the 60s.

The Lavonia Chamber of Commerce held a Jeep Pet Fest Saturday in downtown Lavonia. The event included a jeep parade, vendors and a pet costume contest hosted by Peachy Paws at the Gazebo.
