From staff reports   LAVONIA – The First Lady of Lavonia has passed away. Margaret Ayers died Tuesday at the age of 96 at her home, Northeast Georgia Bank announced in a press release. “Margaret is a Lavonia institution,” Lavonia Mayor Courtney Umbehant said.
Jarrett Foods announced plans to invest $14 million and, eventually create 300 jobs, in the new venture.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   LAVONIA – A poultry processing company announced Thursday that it will locate a processing plant in Lavonia. Jarrett Foods announced plans to invest $14 million and, eventually create 300 jobs, in the new venture.

CANON – The annual Canon Fall Festival was held Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Depot Street in Canon. The festival include games, such as Bingo and a cake walk; food; prizes; and craft vendors.
