On Thanksgiving Day, more than 400 individuals, ages 1 to 82, churches of multiple denominations, corporations, non-profits and family-owned businesses joined forces to feed almost 4,000 homeless, hopeless and homebound individuals in addition to taking them blankets, laundry detergent, pet food and any other items they requested.

From staff reports   LAVONIA – The Lavonia Police Department is set to receive $250,000 in funding for two new police officers over the next three years from a U.S. Department of Justice grant. The Department of Justice recently announced $334 million in grants to fund 2,000 new officers.
