After a negative recommendation from its planning commission, the Lavonia City Council voted to approve the first reading of an annexation and rezoning request made by Jarrett Foods for its planned plant off Grady School Road.

Lavonia Elementary School celebrated Veterans Day Friday by inviting those who have served in the U.S. military for a special assembly.
