The FCHS troupe won its fifth straight region championship in October and will compete Saturday at 3 p.m. at Buford High School in Buford. Admission is free for the state competition.

CARNESVILLE – The five-time and defending Region 8AAA One-Act Play champions will perform its latest award-winning play tonight at 7 p.m. as they prepare for state competition Saturday. The Franklin County High School Theatre Department will present “Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical” tonight at 7 p.m.

LAVONIA – The Franklin County Hometown Fair brought plenty of fun in rides and a first-of-its-kind show. The fair was held Thursday through Saturday at the American Legion fairgrounds in Lavonia and culminated with Northeast Georgia’s first drone light show.

By Gillian Raese Staff Writer   LAVONIA – The Lavonia City Council moved the first reading on an annexation and zoning request by a proposed poultry processing plant to a called meeting Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. Jarrett Foods made the request to annex and zone 16.06 acres off Grady School Road.

Trick or treating is groovy

The City of Canon held Treats on Depot, its annual Halloween event, Tuesday in downtown. Along with handing out plenty of candy, the event included a costume contest  for ages 0-3, 4-8, 9-12 and 13 and older, including adults. Lavonia held its annual Trick or Treating at the Gazeboo!

ATLANTA – Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King urges all Georgians to change their smoke alarm batteries this weekend when they move their clocks back an hour to mark the end of Daylight Saving time. Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2:00 a.m.
