By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   CARNESVILLE — The Franklin County Veterans’ Memorial Plaza is continuing to grow, thanks to an effort led by Richard Roberts. His project is to place Blue and Gold Star Memorial Markers at the plaza.

CANON — The city of Canon is looking for a few people to fill vital roles, although one position is filled by someone who still wants the job.  Police Chief Harold McCroskey’s contract with the city expires this summer, prompting the city council to advertise for the position.

Carlie Christian was honored by the Franklin County Farm Bureau recently for winning the Georgia National Junior Livestock Show. At a ceremony at the Farm Bureau office in Carnesville, Carlie was presented a hat, a championship buckle and her prize money by Georgia Farm Bureau President Tom McCall. Carlie was joined by her parents Leslie and Bryan. Carlie has been a regular award winner in livestock shows and keeps her prizes on display at her home.
