By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   CANON – The Canon City Council hired Josh Akins for its police chief position Monday night. “I’m blessed. It’s a huge honor,” Akins said. “I’m excited for what’s to come down here.” He said Canon has a lot of potential.

CARNESVILLE – The 2021 high school football season begins Aug. 20. Preparations are well under way. New Franklin County Lion Head Coach Parker Martin (above) worked Sunday to paint the goal posts at Ed Bryant Stadium.
