Arthurian legend comes to Lavonia stage

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   LAVONIA — “Camelot” was supposed to be Savannah River Production’s first show in their new home, coinciding with the Renaissance Fair in May. But the theatre group is finally bringing the Arthurian legend to stage starting this weekend.

Royston to hold meeting on 'vision'

  ROYSTON – The Royston Downtown Development Authority will host a Community Visioning Session Oct. 5 from 7-9 p.m. at the Royston Depot. The meeting aims to get input from community members and residents to plan for the future of Royston.

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   CARNESVILLE — COVID-19 cases are down in local schools and the community as a whole, but the Franklin County Jail is experiencing another outbreak. Cases and quarantines of students were down by half Tuesday compared to the previous week.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – An early Tuesday morning accident spilled soybean oil onto I-85, closing the southbound lanes for more than four hours. Franklin County emergency personnel were alerted to the accident at about 3:15 a.m.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – Franklin County commissioners plan to explore the possibility of a noise ordinance. The board plans to look at a draft law in October. Commissioners discussed a possible county noise ordinance at their work session, held via Zoom on Aug. 31.

Local teen makes a difference for Haiti

Delivery truck damages FCMS

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   CARNESVILLE — A food delivery truck struck and damaged Franklin County Middle School Friday morning, causing a new temporary traffic pattern at the school. “We’re trying to get it fixed as soon as possible,” Deputy Superintendent Chuck Colquitt said.
