By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lion baseball team will seek a fourth straight trip to the state’s Elite Eight Monday against Dawson County. Franklin will host Dawson Monday in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. A third game, if needed, will be Tuesday at 5 p.m.

FCHS to host region track meet Monday

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   Rain pushed back the beginning of Region 8AAA baseball championship deciding series this week. The Franklin County Lions’ series opener against Stephens County in Toccoa was postponed due to rain Tuesday.

Franklin teams face key games this week

The spring sports seasons for Franklin County High School teams are winding down. Region titles and state playoff spots are on the line this week in tournaments and key 8AAA contests. The FCHS Lion and Lady Lion tennis teams began play Wednesday in the Region 8AAA tournament in Oconee County.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Lion and Lady Lion track and field teams each finished second in the John Scott Hartness Invitational Thursday at Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium. The Franklin teams finished behind only Class AAAAA in the seven-team meet.

Sweeping to a title

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   The Franklin County Middle School Cubs finished off an undefeated baseball season Monday with a region championship. The Cubs claimed the NEGIAA baseball title by sweeping Stephens County in a championship series at Franklin County High School.

Lions to host Oconee as region winds down

Emmanuel’s Jones eyes next step on journey to NBA
