One killed, family left homeless after fire in Gumlog

From staff reports   GUMLOG – One person was killed on Christmas Eve in a house fire on Buttercup Lane. Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced in a press release Tuesday that four others  were injured in the fire, which occurred during the early morning hours.

Christmas decorations bring joy to Royston woman

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   ROYSTON – Marcia Millsap said she loves Christmas and one look at the inside of her home confirms that. Millsap spends two weeks each year transforming her home into a holiday paradise. The kitchen has wooden Santa Claus figurines along the window sill.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – Franklin County and Carnesville are working on a deal for the city to sell its water and sewer systems to the county. The Carnesville City Council voted Tuesday to give Mayor Harris Little power to complete the sale.

Royston celebrates Christmas with parade

The Christmas season was celebrated Saturday with the Royston Parade of Lights. Beginning at 5 p.m., a host of floats, vehicles and walkers paraded through town to show the Christmas spirit.

From staff reports   CANON – Two people were arrested on drug charges Dec. 7 after a search of a residence in Canon. The search was conducted by officers with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
