GUMLOG – A fire last week that destroyed a house on Pinehurst Road in Gumlog has been ruled arson.
“Under direction of the Franklin County Magistrate Judge’s Office, officers from the Franklin County Marshal’s Office boarded up the residential structure due to its dangerous state of disrepair,” Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King said in a press release. “Hours later, the structure was set ablaze in what has been determined to be an intentional fire.”
The fire happened in the evening of Jan. 24.
A report released Wednesday showed that gasoline was found in the charred remains of the structure.
King asked that anyone with information on the fire to call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804.”
In coordination with the State Fire Investigations Unit, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
