CARNESVILLE – A group of Juniors from Girl Scout Troop 12821 were recently presented with the Bronze Award, the highest award available at the Junior level of Girl Scouting.

Kidnapping suspect arrested after traffic stop near Lavonia

From staff reports   LAVONIA – Georgia State Patrol Troopers recovered two children who had been reported kidnapped from Atlanta two hours earlier and arrested the suspect in the crime. A preliminary report from the Atlanta Police Department says that officers responded Tuesday at 11:06 a.m.

LAVONIA – Northeast Georgia Bank celebrated the 79th anniversary of Margaret Ayers’ uninterrupted service with the bank on May 10. Ayers, a Lavonia native, began working at Northeast Georgia Bank on May 10, 1944.

LAVONIA – The Lavonia Chamber of Commerce handed out five honors Thursday at its annual Awards Dinner,  held at the Lavonia Depot. Vivian Young was named Citizen of the Year by the chamber.
