LAVONIA – The Lavonia Fall Festival is bringing an array of new attractions and favorite regulars Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Lavonia. Vendors will offer creative works in gems, fabric, leather, wood, metal, ceramics and pottery.

CARNESVILLE – The Georgia Department of Education recently released the graduation rates for 2019 and Franklin County High School is still holding strong. The high school has a 90.7 percent graduation rate for 2019, which is down just slightly from 91.3 percent in 2018.

CARNESVILLE – Three people were arrested after a traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics last week. Franklin County deputies performed a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Interstate 85 for tag violations on Sept. 9.

Academy aims to foster leadership in young people

CARNESVILLE – A group of Franklin County High School students have been chosen to learn one of the secrets behind the U.S.’s top fast-food restaurants. Thirty students in the 10th through 12th grades at FCHS recently began the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy.
The Franklin County Board of Education has approved the spending of no more than $25,000 in special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST V) funds for property feasibility studies to determine the best location for a new Royston Elementary School.

Ground broken on new industry in Carnesville

CARNESVILLE – A Mexican businessman looking to expand his business in the United States was lured to Franklin County by I-85 and the poultry business. Pedro Galvin and local officials broke ground Friday on the future location of Kool Farm LLC in the Central Franklin Industrial Park.
