The Franklin County Board of Elections and Registration voted on polling location changes Tuesday that will go into effect for the Nov. 3 elections. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will be the home for the Northeast Franklin voting precinct, while the Royston Depot will be the polling place for the Royston Precinct. Early voting will be held at the former Carnesville Elementary School in downtown Carnesville. Lavonia city voters will vote at the Lavonia Community Center.

CARNESVILLE – Three regular polling places and the site for early voting will move for the Nov. 3 general election. The Franklin County Board of Elections and Registration decided Tuesday to move the voting places for early voting, the Northeast Franklin precinct and the Royston precinct.

CARNESVILLE – Franklin County Schools Superintendent Chris Forrer announced last week the school system will release the system’s COVID-19 numbers on a weekly basis. The information will be released on Tuesday afternoons, with up-to-date information as of noon that day.
With schools back in session for nearly two weeks, the Franklin County School System has avoided a large number of coronavirus diagnoses that has plagued some other systems in the state. Information on positive tests in the system will be reported each Tuesday evening.

CARNESVILLE – With schools back in session for nearly two weeks, the Franklin County School System has avoided a large number of coronavirus diagnoses that has plagued some other systems in the state.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS – The man who was once mayor of Franklin Springs will soon be in office again. Lee Moore was the only person to qualify for Franklin Springs mayor in a special election that had been scheduled for November.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS – The city of Franklin Springs has scheduled a special election for mayor in November. The election will fill the unexpired term of Lee Moore. In February, Moore announced he would run for the District 50 State Senate seat being vacated by John Wilkinson to run for Congress.

CARNESVILLE – The Franklin County Board of Education approved raising its millage rate to 17 mills Tuesday night by a 3-1 vote. The 17-mill rate is a 1.2-mill increase from 2019’s rate.
