CANON — The city of Canon is looking for a few people to fill vital roles, although one position is filled by someone who still wants the job.  Police Chief Harold McCroskey’s contract with the city expires this summer, prompting the city council to advertise for the position.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher CARNESVILLE – A new version of the Franklin County zoning law that pertains to businesses and industries will be considered by commissioners on July 12. Until then, no large industry will be allowed to apply for permits to build in the county.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – Franklin County commissioners are moving ahead with plans to ask voters whether or not alcohol should be sold in rural areas of the county.
Carlie Christian was honored by the Franklin County Farm Bureau recently for winning the Georgia National Junior Livestock Show. At a ceremony at the Farm Bureau office in Carnesville, Carlie was presented a hat, a championship buckle and her prize money by Georgia Farm Bureau President Tom McCall. Carlie was joined by her parents Leslie and Bryan. Carlie has been a regular award winner in livestock shows and keeps her prizes on display at her home.
