Toccoa man arrested for home invasion

From staff reports   CARNESVILLE – A Toccoa man has been arrested for a home invasion Saturday in the Plainview community. Allijah Timothy Banks, 33, of Toccoa, was arrested in Athens Sunday. He has been charged with felony home invasion, armed robbery and burglary.

By Beau Evans Capitol Beat News Service The long winter of COVID-19 looks to be coming to an end in Georgia.   All Georgians age 16 and older will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting this Thursday, March 25, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Tuesday.
A recount of ballots from the Aug. 11 runoff election for the Republican nomination for State Senate District 50 will be held Monday. The Franklin County Board of Elections and Registration will begin retallying votes in the race Monday at 9 a.m. at the elections office at 7850 Royston Road in Carnesville.

A Toccoa landmark is about to receive new life, as the Broken Bridges area in Toccoa is set to become a focal point of a 10-mile waterway trek. Broken Bridges over the Tugaloo River arm of Lake Hartwell has been a landmark along the Georgia/South Carolina border for well over 140 years.
