Stores cited for sale of alcohol, tobacco to underage buyer

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   LAVONIA – Five Lavonia stores were recently cited for selling alcohol or tobacco to an underage customer. The Lavonia Police Department conducted an undercover operation with the use of a 19-year-old buyer who was familiar with the area, Lavonia P.D.

Mobile skills classroom to hold night session for community

CARNESVILLE – A mobile classroom to train students in job and trade skills will return to Franklin County High School net week. And this year, parents can take part in the training. Be Pro Be Proud will be at FCHS Monday and Tuesday.

Lavonia Boat Expo returns to downtown Saturday

LAVONIA – Saturday’s Lavonia Boat Expo promises to be the largest and best ever with more boats, exhibitors and activities.  The March 18 boat show will be on East and West Main streets and at the Gazebo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking available.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   ATLANTA – State Rep. Alan Powell introduced local legislation Monday to change the way the Franklin County Board of Education is paid. Currently, the school board is paid $50 per meeting, with the board typically holding two meetings per month.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   EASTANOLLEE – The top tier of the Franklin County High School Class of 2023 was honored Friday at the annual Honors Breakfast, sponsored by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.
The Pilot Club of Lavonia cut the ribbon on a handicapped-accessible addition to the playground at Lavonia Memorial Park Monday. Club members were joined by city officials for the ceremony. The club raised money for the addition in conjunction with the City of Lavonia. (Photos by Raese)

Pilot Club dedicates handicapped accessible equipment
