CARNESVILLE – A mobile classroom to train students in job and trade skills will return to Franklin County High School net week.
And this year, parents can take part in the training.
Be Pro Be Proud will be at FCHS Monday and Tuesday.
Students will have access to the Be Pro Be Proud mobile classroom – located in a transfer truck trailer – Monday and Tuesday during the school day.
The classroom allows students to experience simulated aspects of jobs and careers in skilled trades.
Students can take part in different modules that shows what is needed to work in well-paying and needed trades.
Work-Based Learning Instructor Rebecca Milford-Floyd received permission from Be Pro Be Proud organizers for an evening session to allow parents and the community to attend.
“Watching the students really have fun with the modules, it seemed a shame that their parents couldn’t also be a part of the experience,” Milford-Floyd said.
The Be Pro Be Proud simulator will be open for the community, parents and students Monday from 5-7 p.m. The night will serve as a pilot program for the program.
“This mobile classroom and fantastic teacher, brings simulated, hands-on experiences to our students that reinforce the great CTAE (Career Tech & Ag Education) teachers and labs we have here at FCHS,” Milford-Floyd said. “Much of what is experienced and discussed also ties in with the importance of strong academic connections as well. Ultimately, the students walk away a little more excited to consider a career in the high tech, high pay, high demand world of the skilled trades.”
This is the second time that the Be Pro Be Proud tour has visited FCHS.
