CARNESVILLE – Double Churches Volunteer Fire Department recently received nine new Scott self-contained breathing apparatus or SCBA partially funded by the 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Award.
Local Girl Scout Brooke Tate served as emcee for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia’s 2022 Woman of Distinction Award ceremony. During the event, she got to meet former Gov. Nathan Deal and First Lady Sandra Deal.

Lavonia Boy Scout Troop 51 members retire one of 15 worn American flags left in the flag retirement box during a flag retirement ceremony Monday at Lavonia Memorial Park. The ceremony was held following a fire pit dedication Monday night. Replacing the fire pit at the park was J.T. Strickland’s Eagle Scout project.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – Four of the five local posts up for election this year will be contested races. Both seats up for election on the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and two of three seats on the county board of education will be contested.
A new ag barn to be used for Supervised Agriculture Experience animal projects will be built on property across High Road from Franklin County High School.
