By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   Lavonia — As students gathered in the back parking lot of the Lavonia Elementary School Thursday afternoon, a Lavonia police vehicle approached with its lights and siren on.

By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – A new development approved by Franklin County commissioners Monday will bring a factory and warehouse for one of the largest homebuilders in the U.S. to Exit 160 on I-85.

Festival to highlight monarch butterflies

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   Lavonia — Monarch butterflies will be celebrated at this year’s fall festival. On Sept. 14, Mayor Courtney Umbehant, surrounded by Lavonia Elementary School staff and community leaders, declared Sept.
