Security a focus with return to school

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   Carnesville — Visitors to Franklin County High School will notice a new security measure as they enter the campus.
Questions arose last week about Commissioner-elect Cole Roper building a new house at 5355 Sandy Cross Road, which is just 1.3 miles from his home at 3935 Sandy Cross Road, but lies outside District 4, which he is running to represent on the Franklin County Board of Commissioners.

Teasley, Stone named schools’ top teacher, support person

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   Carnesville — Yvonne Teasley and Carol Stone are the teacher and support person of the year for Franklin County Schools. Acting Superintendent Chuck Colquitt made the announcement during the district’s Convocation Monday morning at Franklin County High School.
After three public hearings required for maintaining the millage rate at 17 mills, the Franklin County Board of Education decided to roll back the rate to 15.765 mills at its called meeting Thursday night.
