The new elementary school will replace Royston Elementary School and will be built on land just outside of Carnesville at 5670 State Road 145 that the school board purchased last month.

The 1992 Franklin County Lions football team made the state quarterfinals and was the most successful in school history. The close-knit team was led by 16 seniors that included (front, from left) Elvin Brown, Eric Barnes, Jay Baskins, Robert Duncan, Erick Parson, (back) James McGee, Tarus Winters and Bob Whitworth.
Franklin County voters will be asked in November to extend the county’s special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) for six more years.
