here is so much that is heavy on my heart for Franklin County right now. I spend more time thinking about the future of Franklin County than I care to admit.
I spend much of that time researching and reading all that I can get my hands on to better understand the true statistics.
Editor’s note: The following is transcribed from remarks were made prior to the start of the Franklin County Republican Party’s Runoff Election Forum Thursday at Franklin Springs City Hall. They have been edited only to put the remarks in written form.
This letter is in response to the editorial in last week’s paper by the editor. I have a grievance with the article.

On Thanksgiving 2022, these are the things I am thankful for:
• Two days off to spend with family.
• The chance to live in Franklin County, Ga.
• Unsweet tea from Subway.
In February, Corridor Development Inc., filed applications for a residential and commercial development project for approximately 52.48 acres located on Hwy 59 south of Carnesville, near one of the I-85 intersections.
Gumlog, Ga., once considered to be the “Moonshine Capital” now should be called the “Meth and Drug Capital” of Georgia.
Our beautiful community of Gumlog has changed in the last 10 years and has steadily regressed and gone down hill fast, along with our neighborhood looks and people.
Editor’s note: Lavonia Mayor Courtney Umbehant submitted the following letter to the Franklin County Citizen Leader for publication.
Lavonia is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.
