By Shane Scoggins Publisher   CARNESVILLE – The Carnesville Fire Department aims to be prepared in case the worst ever happens. The department is working to equip itself with trauma bags that will allow members to respond to incidents like the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   Carnesville — Enthusiasm and inspiration filled the Telford Center Monday morning as teachers kicked off the 2022-23 school year at the district’s annual Convocation.

Ride raises donations for Toys for Tots

By Samantha Sinclair Staff Writer   Lavonia — Santa came in the form of more than 37 people on motorcycles Saturday afternoon. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5897 hosted the Christmas in July Motorcycle Ride, with admission being a toy or financial donation for Toys for Tots.

Qualifying opens next week for chairman’s post

From staff reports   CARNESVILLE – The dates and fees have been set for qualifying to fill the unexpired term of Franklin County Commission Chairman Jason Macomson. Qualifying for the seat will be Aug. 1-3 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and from 9 a.m.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS – Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp will make a stop on his re-election campaign Aug. 4 from 8-9 a.m. at the Franklin Springs Fire Department. Kemp, first elected in 2018, is seeking re-election. He is opposed by Democratic nominee Stacy Abrams.
